They don't usually do desserts to-go at Death & Co., but ask nicely and the kitchen just might find a little plastic container to house their German Chocolate Cake ($9). It's nothing too inventive, just the traditional version (plus a drizzle of dulce de leche) done very well. And sometimes that's exactly what you crave. Two layers of a dark, borderline fudgy chocolate cake are coupled with a butter-rich filling of shredded coconut and chopped, toasted pecans. A big forkful capturing both cake and filling is surely memorable, though I've been guilty of scraping off the filling, eating the cake alone, and then smothering the filling over a chubby scoop of Häagen-Dazs vanilla.
