At Soba Koh, the set menus come with dessert, your choice of green tea or red bean ice cream. Pass on both. Not because they're aren't good (they are), but because you want the Hojicha Ice Cream ($7) instead. You have to order it à la carte, but the two chubby scoops with a drizzle of hojicha syrup and crushed, toasted hojicha are well worth it. The texture of the ice cream is particularly lush and creamy, and it's dense with a roasted, borderline caramelized, hojicha flavor. The crushed hojicha topping is folded directly into the ice cream as well, making each spoonful a rough textured one pleasure. Not your ordinary scoop, but one I constantly crave.
