Last night Ed and I headed over to the Third Annual Saveur Summer Barbecue at the 79th Street Boat Basin. It couldn't have been a nicer day for it to happen. The weather was perfect, the sky was clear, the sunken stone patio protected us from the light breeze coming off the hudson, and we had over 15 chefs surrounding us with smoke, flames, and food.
My only complaint? I didn't get to try any of Andy Ricker's awesome-sounding pounded beef with nam phrik. No worries, there was still plenty of food and drink to go around, including a killer lamb sandwich from Chris Cosentino of Incanto and Boccalone in San Francisco (corned lamb heart, braised lamb, lamb brain mayonnaise, and shaved cured lamb's liver!), and some mighty tasty cold ramen noodles topped with grilled skirt steak from Susan Feniger.
Peep through the slideshow above to take a look at all the food.
