Street Food at the Hudson Square Food Truck Court
[Photographs: Dave Katz]
The marriage of food and music is generally a fun affair. It certainly is at the Hudson Square Food Truck Court, a thrice-weekly gathering of food trucks and local musicians and DJs in the triangular LentSpace between Varick, Grand and Canal Streets. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, six trucks line up and transform the gravel-floored park into a mobile food court.
The trucks operate on a rotating schedule, with six different vendors occupying the space each day, generally offering a solid mix of dishes from classic burgers to fusion tacos. You can find both sweet and savory items at the lot (though the latter outnumbers the former 5 to 1), which you can enjoy in the LentSpace itself or in one of the nearby parks. There is an added bonus of dining at one of the lot's tables: the live music, which on our visit was actually a rather eclectic local DJ instead of a live band. While the lot is officially open from 11 AM to 3 PM, most trucks tend to head out when business slows down around 2:30, so don't come too late. We made our Wednesday trip around 1:30, when the crowds were starting to die down but all trucks, save Andy's Italian Ices, were present.

Check out the slideshow for a look at some of the food we tried during our visit and also scroll down for the complete daily truck lineups.
Note: As we are dealing with food trucks, the days, times and participants are all subject to change. Visit the court's twitter page for the most up-to-date information.
