A Sandwich a Day

A new sandwich every day.

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

There's a new kati roll place in town; Desi Galli in Murray Hill serves up street snacks like kati rolls, chaat, and other snacks. The filling of the Lamb Bhuna kati roll ($5.99) is a spicy, flavorful stewed lamb that's exceptionally tender and moist. Onions in the mix are cooked down to bring out a noticeable sweetness, but they still maintain a slight crunch.

Desi Galli offers two types of flatbread for its kati rolls. The roomali roti here is chewy, stretchy, and just the slightest bit oily; it holds up well to the saucy stewed lamb even after a subway journey. It's not often you can imagine eating a hearty stewed lamb on the go, but it just may be possible with this roll.
