"I end up here more often than I should," admitted Andrew Carmellini when we met him at Dominique Ansel, the staggeringly good French bakery on Spring Street. This was stop number one on what would become our three-hour Soho food crawl. His restaurant The Dutch is just around the corner from the bakery, which means those buttery-amazing kouign ammans are dangerously convenient.

After downing a few pastries in Dominique's lovely backyard (with Dominique himself), it was off to a chocolate shop, a juice bar, a burger joint, a dive bar, and finally a strong coffee to cap the crawl.

On Religion

"When my trainer asked me what I was up to today, I said, oh, you know, going on a food tour all afternoon." Though Carmellini doesn't actually live in Soho, he ends spending most of his time here in the Dutch's nabe. One recent afternoon, SE overlord Ed, SENY editor Max, and I cruised around with him to his favorite spots.
