Frappés are back for the summer at LA Burdick for $7.50 each with a choice between milk or dark chocolate. I prefer the latter: the flavor is richer, almost heady, and more complex. The drinks are at an ideal intersection between icy and creamy, just thick enough to suck up through the thin straw. A scoop of whipped cream on top is a must. They're perfect plain, but the mix-ins ($.50) are just as fun. When they say banana, it's not banana syrup, but actual banana chunks blended into the frappé. The same goes for strawberry and even ginger, my personal favorite.
