The pastry board at Union Square Cafe could be a meal of its own. Sunny's Pastries ($9) consists of four different creations on any given day. One visit brought tender banana and maple walnut muffins and crumble-topped coffee cake alongside classic, flaky croissants. Cinnamon rolls are the largest of them all, fluffy creatures with a brush of icing, loosely rolled with a buttery, easy-to-love dose of cinnamon and brown sugar. The sea salt brioche is a winner, tender with an evenly browned top and a well-calibrated savory note to balance out all the sweets. A complete meal indeed.
