Sugar Rush: Donatella's Coconut Cake

Tucked among a dessert menu of zeppoli, killer cannoli, and sofogliatelle at Donatella is D's Coconut Cake ($9). Served in individual rounds, the cake is all at once fluffy and comforting. Alternating layers of feather-soft coconut cake and a whipped coconut mousse are paired with seasonal fruits and a luxurious scoop of coconut sorbet—smooth and true to flavor. Complete with a roll in toasted coconut flakes, it's heaven for any fan of coconut and is right up there with Balthazar and Amy's Bread as one of my favorite coconut cakes in town.
