A Sandwich a Day: The Short Rib Sandwich at Bluebird Sky
In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

We've already told you how much we love breakfast at Bluebird Sky—now it's time to talk lunch. The cafe's generously portioned short rib sandwich ($10) certainly lived up to our expectations. Served on a crispy baguette, the short rib is braised in wine and topped with onion jam and gruyere cheese. The addition of horseradish gives the sandwich a nice bite and the meat is tender and richly flavorful. I did find myself wishing for a little arugula to add some brightness and balance out the heavier ingredients but at the end of the day, it's hard to find fault with a massive pile of delicious meat making its way into my belly. I'm all for more short rib and brisket on NYC lunch menus, and I found this to be a sandwich well worth trying. And finishing.
