Cupcakes have always been the sleeper hit at Spot Dessert Bar in the East Village. We love their dark chocolate cakes with green tea buttercream, a classic coconut, and apple crumb cupcakes. For this Valentine's they're putting out a special edition red velvet cupcake ($2.75) with whipped cream cheese frosting and cake crumbles to top. The frosting is ridiculously light, practically a whisper against the tender, tasty cupcake. The same cake base is used to form three-bite cake pops ($2.50) dipped in tempered white chocolate. And if red velvet isn't your thing, they're also making cake pops with chocolate cake and vanilla cake. Little indulgences never hurt.
