These Buttercream Brownies ($3.90) are not brownies in the traditional sense. They are a cross between a flourless chocolate cake, a classic brownie, and, well, an awful lot of buttercream. Three components—two layers of a bittersweet chocolate "brownie," crisp at the surface, light in texture but heavy and intense on the chocolate flavor; there's a sizable layer of buttercream sandwiched in the middle and the whole concoction is rolled in cocoa powder. Take care with that first bite. I was a bit gluttonous and ended up choking on the airy whoosh of cocoa powder.
