Reuben Sandwich at Bowery Diner
The pastrami, given an 11-hour, in-house smoke, is faling-apart tender, and while the kitchen will be baking some of its own bread, the rye bread here is brought from an outside vendor to pay homage to New York's older bakeries.
Cherry Pie ($9)
Another diner staple. Bowery Diner is making their own homemade pies, like this picturesque slice of cherry.
New York Strip Steak ($24)
This New York strip is cooked with just some garlic, thyme and butter, and comes served with a red wine sauce and a side of fries.
French Fries ($7)
This towering cone holds crisp fries with lots of good russet flavor; they're just more potato-y than most fries.
Shaller & Weber Hot Dog ($16)
This hot dog, from venerable meat purveyor Shaller & Weber, comes topped with sauerkraut and served alongside impossibly thin, crispy onion rings.
Cherry Shake ($7)
Bowery Diner will feature a full line of milkshakes, made with homemade ingredients. The cherries mixed into this shake made it taste like actual fruit, instead of just artificial cherry syrup (look for old-fashioned U-Bet syrup in the chocolate shakes). Shakes can be made from any combination of flavors, but look for the House Specials ($7) for the kitchen's suggested combinations and Feel Good Shakes ($9) for boozy treats.
Roasted Duck Breast ($24)
This roasted duck breast comes served with duck jus, applesauce, and potato pancake.
Inside the Diner
The restaurant takes its design cues from mid-century diner tropes.
