Sugar Rush: English Sticky Toffee Pudding at ChikaLicious

The newest addition to the menu at Dessert Club ChikaLicious is English Sticky Toffee Pudding ($6.95). At least, the ChikaLicious interpretation of the English Sticky Toffee Pudding. What does that mean? It means it's significantly less sweet—the sweetness deriving mainly from dates and not sugar, a fine and more delicate crumb, resulting in a pudding/cake that leaves you feeling light as opposed to weighed down. The pudding is steamed to order and served with a vanilla bean crème anglaise streaked in toffee sauce. It's not nearly as sticky or indulgent as the traditional pudding, but there's a time and place for every type of dessert, and this interpretation ranks pretty high in my books.
