In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Both pimento fans and cheesesteak purists might object to the naming of this sandwich (you might as well call it a po' boy, and get that camp riled up too!), but the Pimiento Cheesesteak ($10) at Peels is a pretty tasty thing. It's got thick rounds of steak with a good outside sear, still tender enough to bite through, against the sharpness of the cheddar cheese; super-sweet caramelized onions balance out the little bit of heat. It's not like any cheesesteak you've ever had, but we're just fine with this version, thank you very much.
