Sweet potato pies never really get the attention they deserve, often sitting in the shadows of pumpkin. So you'll have to thank Peels for bringing sweet potato pie front and center this fall. You'll find that these pies are heartier and denser than their pumpkin counterparts. The flaky, butter-rich crust holds up well, and the filling comes spiced with much more than your usual cinnamon and nutmeg. Pay close attention and you might pick out hints of black pepper, the spicy sharp bite of ginger, and allspice and cloves to round it out. The sweetness comes from maple syrup, giving the pie a subtle, rounded flavor. Take it go and they'll tuck it into a neat box for you, but have it to stay, and it comes to the table with a flurry of fresh whipped cream.
