Sugar Rush: Pumpkin Cheesecake and Whoopie Pies at Tribeca Treats

Sugar Rush

Your daily dose of something sweet.

Two pumpkin desserts to look out for next time you stop by Tribeca Treats on Reade Street. First is the Pumpkin Whoopie Pie ($1.75), in which a pair of soft and sweet pumpkin cookie-cakes meet ribbons of cream cheese frosting. The frosting is whipped and silky, lighter that most in texture and piped in the right proportions so that it doesn't ooze out the edges on the first bite. The second is this Pumpkin Cheesecake ($3.75), a little round sized exactly for one. It's subtle and tastes of cinnamon with nutmeg buried slightly in the back. Heavy on the cream cheese, and lighter on the pumpkin, the butter-rich and crumbly graham cracker crust provides just as much flavor as the cake itself. And if you're in a cupcake mood, they're doing two types of pumpkin cupcakes—one complete with a cinnamon-vanilla frosting, and the other with a classic cream cheese frosting and candied pecans.
