Fall weather may already be here, but my ice cream cravings have not subsided. We've covered all sorts of spots throughout the city in recent months, but don't forget to add Peels to your list. Sugar cones with a single scoop run $3 (add $3 for each additional scoop). There are ordinary flavors—vanilla, chocolate—but the more interesting flavors are the ones I return for.
Here's a scoop of Malt (pictured), the rounded, nutty milk flavor haunting and softly sweet; I'm also a fan of the simultaneously fruity and spicy Raspberry-Pink Peppercorn. Seasonal sorbets come in tart Gooseberry and Yellow Plum, among many others. While there, keep your eyes peeled for the S'mores Cake ($3.50) in which a devil's food cupcake is topped with a sultry crown of Valrhona chocolate ganache and housemade honey marshmallow. I'm a sucker for these marshmallows, also incredible as a topper for their house mocha (and hot chocolate come winter!).
