Market Scene: Union Square Greenmarket
Pumpkins were all over Serious Eats this week, and you better believe that they were all over the Greenmarket as well. As we say goodbye to tomatoes, and the eggplant hang on for a bit longer, we're also seeing amazing apples, radishes, rutabaga, sweet potatoes, and some oddballs (I'm looking at you, cardoons). So begins the march to winter and its bounty of root vegetables. Click through the slideshow for a closer look at what we saw at market this week.
Greenmarket farmers are still struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. Please support the farmers, by shopping at the market and by donating to Greenmarket parent organization GrowNYC's Hurricane Irene Relief Fund.
