Sugar Rush: Sorbet at Xocolatti

Xocolatti just opened their first storefront on Prince Street this weekend. We've written about their excellent truffles before, back when you could only buy them at The Chocolate Library in the East Village. But now they have their own place, and it's tiny but shiny and sleek. Truffles and chocolate are the focus; but right by the register are six metal tins, each filled with housemade gelato or sorbet. Classic flavors, $4.90 for a small scoop. Not a bargain by any means, but if their Raspberry-Mango Sorbet is any indication of quality, we're coming back for more. It's perfectly smooth, the raspberry flavor vibrant and decidedly fresh, mango moving in slowly, a softer note in the back. Given that there aren't many other reliable gelato and sorbet places in Soho, Xocolatti is a welcome newcomer.
