Sugar Rush: September's Flavors of the Month

Most gelaterias and ice cream shops in town have "flavors of the month." September this year just happens to be a exceptionally great month flavor-wise. But you only have until this Friday to try them all. So get to it!
Over at Grom, it's a gentle but fragrant Cinnamon Gelato speckled with slivers of white chocolate. The tiny chips are irregularly cut and melt with ease. Pairs well with their Ginger Gelato. Sorbets are superior to gelati at Amorino, and their "flavor of the month" is a silky Grapefruit Sorbet, true to flavor with a slightly bitter edge and sweet finish. It's not an official special, but they're pushing the Pear Sorbet at L'arte del Gelato further west. It's intense and bold with fresh pears, the texture dense and perfectly smooth. And then swing by Shack Shack this Thursday—it's the last time this month they'll have the Fig & Honey, one of my personal late summer/early fall favorites. Impossibly creamy with the subtle rounded sweetness of honey and the tiniest bits of fig seeds caught in the occasional spoonful. Can't wait to see what flavors October will bring.
