New York Mart storefront
Don't let the generic name of this supermarket fool you. You can find everything from live frogs to dozens of kinds of Chinese sausages to Hellmann's mayo in this grocer.
Mochi and icepops
Every flavor you could possibly want on a frozen stick.
Snails, clams, and the like.
And you thought you could only get the pig's head at the Breslin.
Flying watermelon saucers, teepees made of meat, and eggplant as sea animals? Sure.
Roasted and crispy
Whole duck, anyone?
Just like everything else in the store, there is no shortage of variety in the vegetable and produce section. Here is just a small sampling.
Bunches of scallions
Look at those pretty greens.
Using every part
Only $1 a bag for these dried and salted duck parts.
Really large fish heads just chilling. You can get just the tails too, if you want.
These live frogs can't be too happy with their current state of affairs.
All that live frog picking getting your appetite up? Fix yourself a mix and match meal at the prepared foods section (there's a bit of seating inside too).
Sauces and marinades
You certainly won't find these at Whole Foods.
We're still not entirely sure what's in these packages. The label says Giant Top Shellfish but why are we seeing Precious Horse?
Plenty of choices for the dairy-phobe.
American soy, along with the fresher stuff.
Jerky and dried squid
Dried treats to have on hand in the event of another hurricane?
We couldn't help but show you this surprised cartoon dog packaging.
One of many funny and vintage-looking labels in the store.
More soda, offal, and buns
Well, we never said the shelves were organized logically. Here we have soda, some containers of tripe and octopus below that, and mung bean paste buns below that.
Long stick fish sausages
For your lunch sandwich needs
We've found the canned lunch meats and mayo.
Whether you want savory or sweet, this bakery section has the fix. Among its offerings are seaweed and pork buns, hot dog buns, pineapple buns, and sliced coconut buns.
Noodles and noodles
We loved the array of Asian noodles next to the Ronzoni varieties.
