Grapes, Fantasy Fruit Farm
Peak season for grapes is upon us, and prices are dropping accordingly. These red grapes at Fantasy Fruit Farm were $5/quart.
Apples, Breezy Hill Orchard
Breezy Hill has all manner of apples, including Fujis, Galas, Macouns, Macintosh, and the popular (and pricey) Honeycrisp. Also look for Bartlett and Bosc pears at their stand.
Chestnuts, Eckerton Hill Farm
From what I hear, these are quite good roasted, preferably over an open fire. (Too soon?)
Long Squash, Migliorelli Farms
Seriously, this squash is really, really long.
Lemongrass, Stokes Farm
Also in the Really, Really Long Foods category, Stokes Farm has a treat: fresh lemongrass. Including their leaves, the stalks were almost four feet long and very fragrant.
Dried Pear and Cracked Pepper Levain, Our Daily Bread
If you are in search of a more imaginative spin on the usual walnut-raisin bread, give this creation from Chatham, NY's Our Daily Bread a shot.
Celeriac, Hawthorne Valley Farm
Hawthorne Valley had beautiful celeriac, something of an oxymoron.
Garlic Scapes, Keith's Farm
Remember green garlic in early spring? Then summer's green garlic scapes? Well, this is where garlic scapes leave us until next year: dried with tiny bulbs of garlic on the end. Delicious, even if its a harbinger for colder times.
Tomatoes, Sycamore Farms
Tomatoes aren't as plentiful as they were at the peak of the season, but they'll still be around for a few more weekend until it starts to get more chilly out.
Maitake Mushroom, Honey Hollow Farm
Looking for a maitake larger than your head? Look no further than Honey Hollow farm.
Broccoli and Cauliflower, Rogowski Farm
Picture-perfect broccoli was available at Rogowski's stand this week.
