Positioned as a "Mediterranean cucina," Lezzette does its best work when it stays on the southern shores of the sea---most customers flock to the hot bar, where kebabs, kofte, and North African specialties beckon. But it would be a mistake to overlook the sandwiches, particularly the Casablanca ($7.98). A hero gets sliced, then slathered with house-made hummus, chopped grilled chicken, and roasted red peppers. A drizzle of olive oil and a generous twist of the pepper grinder round it out. The result is slightly smoky and subtly sweet, a winning combination in the waning days of summer.
