A Sandwich a Day: Beefsteak BLT from 'wichcraft

They're back! The beefsteak tomato BLT ($9.75), now that fresh, local tomatoes are finally starting to trickle into Greenmarkets and farmers' markets in New York City, has made its way back onto 'wichcraft's menu. The sandwiches are made on lightly toasted country bread stuffed with thick-cut beefsteak tomatoes from Eckerton Hill Farm in Pennsylvania, heritage smoked bacon from a farm in the Ozarks, and tender lettuce. Although the tomatoes are meant to be the highlight of these sandwiches, we would've liked a little more bacon, tad more of the house-made aioli, and a lettuce with a little more crunch. But along with their Greenmarket corn salad and mixed berry mini-pies, these sandwiches would make a nice center-point for a picnic in the park.
