We wrote about the cake truffles at Momofuku Milk Bar over a year ago, but I'm still a huge fan; I find myself making detours to find them when a craving hits. $4 for three, they're perfect for both snacking or sharing. The Strawberry-Lemon Cake Truffles are the most recent addition to the set, joining the birthday cake truffle and an indulgent banana cake truffle, which couples banana cake with hazelnut brittle before a roll in chocolate cake crumbs.
But it's summer, and the strawberry is now my go-to flavor. The cake itself is lemony tart and dense, slightly under-baked and rolled in crunchy strawberry and milk crumbs. A precise two-biter, with all the bright summery notes of lemons and strawberries, I'm keeping this in my rotation until the fall season rolls around. (And then, it's back to the banana cake truffle.)
