We've already voiced our approval of the breakfast menu at Penelope, so it's little surprise that we like brunch there, too; though there's a slightly different menu on the weekend. The $14.50 prix-fixe menu gets you one entree and either a summer rosé mimosa, or juice and coffee or tea.
While there are plenty of savory options, like Salmon Wrapped Poached Eggs with green goddess dressing, their Nutella French toast was the sort of sweet, appealing dish that's irresistible on a lazy Saturday morning. In three sizable pieces with a generous side of fresh fruit, the French toasts are stuffed with warm Nutella; once you slide a knife in, it oozes out lusciously. The toast itself, nicely browned, was moist throughout with deep milky flavor, and there's a light dusting of powdered sugar just to add that last hit of sweetness—if the Nutella weren't enough.
