Sugar Rush: Salty Oats by Kayak Cookies

"Subtly sweet...curiously salty," is the tagline for Salty Oat cookies by Kayak Cookies, and it describes the cookies perfectly in just four words. The cookies come in three flavors, Original Salty Oats, Chocolate Salty Oats, and Chunky Chocolate Pecan Salty Oats.
The ingredients used to bake up these hearty, chewy and crisp cookies are clean and simple: organic oats, wheat flour, organic raisins, butter, cane sugar, organic eggs, vanilla, kosher salt, baking powder, baking soda. The surface is sprinkled with a scatter of salt so that each bite is laced with just whisper of saltiness to balance out the sweet. These large cookies are more akin to an oatcake, with a crumbly moist texture, than a normal cookie; I've eaten them for breakfast on many occasions. The chocolate version incorporates big melty chunks of Belgian chocolate with coconut and just enough vanilla, while the chunky chocolate pecan uses equal parts chocolate chunks and meaty, toasty pecans.
