House Roasted Turkey, Torrisi Italian Specialties

Torrisi's turkey sandwich.

It would not be overstating its awesomeness to claim that the house roasted turkey sandwich from Torrisi Italian Specialties is the best turkey sandwich we've ever had—which is why we just had to have it at the Serious Eats All-Star Sandwich Festival.

Okay, so best turkey sandwich we've ever had is a pretty low bar to clear. Never mind that. Here's a turkey sandwich that gets us so excited, we forsake Torrisi's excellent chicken parm and Italian-style heroes to order it again and again. It's slow-cooked until it's almost unbelievably tender, with none of turkey's toughness or stringiness, and it's glazed in honey, garlic, and herbs; add that to simple, classic sandwich fixings (red onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo) in perfect proportion, and it's better than turkey has any right to be.

Special giveaway today! Anyone who buys a ticket before 6 p.m. EST today (or has already bought them before today) will be entered into a drawing for a copy of 'wichcraft: Craft a Sandwich into a Meal--And a Meal into a Sandwich cookbook. We figured anyone who's going to the Sandwich Festival wouldn't mind a book about sandwiches.
