A Sandwich a Day: Savory's Crunchy Earth

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Last week we featured a simple, classic Avocado Sandwich from Battery Place Market, and this week we're back with another avocado number, The Crunchy Earth from Savory—the new delivery-only restaurant based in Hell's Kitchen. It's a vegan sandwich on hearty 7-grain bread from Pain D'Avignon. The hummus is made in-house and slathered on the bottom half with carrots, roasted red peppers, tomatoes and Sicillian onions. Instead of just a piece of lettuce, they've thoughtfully include shredded romaine lettuce, which makes it all the easier to eat—less mess at the office desk. No skimping on the avocado here, with buttery cuts tucked between the lettuce and top slice of bread. Do you have any favorites spots for avocado sandwiches in the city? Do tell!
