Who doesn't love a good avocado sandwich? Whether it's just simple avocado and tomato on bread, found at many Japanese bakeries, or a more elaborate avocado sandwich, there's nothing fresh avocado can't improve. At Battery Place Market the Avocado Sandwich starts with a two thick, nutty slices of 8-grain bread and a generous slather of mayo on one side. Layered in are plenty of sprouts, tomatoes, cilantro and thin-cut red onions with cilantro pressed tight against the ripe avocado wedges. So simple and ridiculously good. Do you detect a some heat? That's the sweet and hot roasted jalapeño peppers, an unexpected but delicious little kick. The sandwich is $8 Battery Place Market and comes with both chips and soda or water.
