The Dassai brewery in rural Yamaguchi prefecture, Japan.

We've been telling you about food and drink events raising money for Japan's tsunami victims as we hear them. Here's the latest, especially recommended for sake enthusiasts.

Chef Tadashi Ono and sake samurai Timothy Sullivan will host a special workshop and sake tasting at Matsuri in Chelsea on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. Tadashi just spent two months training at Japan's legendary Dassai sake brewery. He and Timothy will share behind-the-scenes videos and photos of the the sake-making, along with a sampling of Dassai's award-winning sakes and food pairings prepared by Tadashi. Fluke sashimi, crab shumai dumplings, shrimp tempura, yakitori and miso-braised short ribs!

They'll also be raffling off a rare bottle of Dassai sake from Timothy's private collection (oooh) and the first copies of Tadashi's upcoming cookbook written with Harris Salat, The Japanese Grill. It'll be a fun, educational evening with 100% of the proceeds going to Japan Society's relief fund, helping the thousands of Japanese, mostly elderly, who lost everything in the tsunami disaster.

For tickets, register here or call Matsuri and reserve over the phone: 212-243-6400.
