It's still cold out, but I've already started dreaming of ice cream season to come. Ruby et Violette used to be a rare treat for me as their Hell's Kitchen location was fairly out of my way. But with their new location inside the Limelight Market, I've been going on weekly excursions for cups of ice cream blended with their signature cookie dough ($3.96 a scoop).
The Stuck On You flavor is both fun and luxurious, featuring a butterscotch ice cream base with mini-marshmallows and the Stuck On You cookie (a mix of butterscotch, caramel, and dark chocolate) folded into the ice cream. Like the gelati at Stellina, Ruby et Violette's ice cream flavors are busy with a ton of stuff mixed in. The most popular flavor, and for good reason, is the First Kiss ice cream. Sweet and salty, dark chocolate discs meet a generously sea-salted dark chocolate dough. Familiar flavors, all glammed up. But if you really insist on finding a less busy ice cream, the Double Shot is the way to go—just espresso ice cream and espresso cookie dough. That's about as simple as it gets here.
