The base of this Tart ($3.75) is forgettable but the fillings and toppings are certainly not. Meaty bite-sized bits of apples, tender and scented with cinnamon spice, meets a hazelnut crumble that must be 90% butter pockmarked with crushed and chopped hazelnuts. The best is when you bite into the occasional whole hazelnut, as the crumble literally melts in your mouth. Astor Bake Shop's housemade Gingerade ($2.75) makes a great pairing, but it is somewhat too sweet on its own, so ask for a half-half of the Gingerade and the Salted Lemonade (unexpected, quite salty but very addictive) to make the perfect combination.
