A Sandwich A Day: The Homemade Veggie Burger at Brooklyn Label

While most veggie burgers fall apart as soon as you pick them up, the homemade veggie burger ($9, served with either fries or a salad) at Brooklyn Label manages to stay in one piece without being too dense. Made with black beans and oats, the burger is pleasantly chewy and surprisingly moist. It comes topped with a slice of cheddar (though you can substitute soy cheese for a small surcharge), the requisite lettuce-tomato-onion, pickles from Brooklyn Brine, and a healthy dollop of guacamole. It's even better when you top it with one of their house-made sauces, my favorite being the sweet chipotle ketchup. Be wary of the orange sauce, which is so spicy my lips were burning for about a half an hour afterward.
