Sugar Rush: Waffles at Smorgas Chef

Waffles ($7) show up on the dessert menu at all three locations of Smorgas Chef. They comes to the table with a helping of softly whipped cream, strawberries, and squiggles of cloudberry preserves. I could have done without the gelatious, sugary preserves, but the waffles were just what I craved. Vanilla-scented with sweet and chewy ragged edges, they were plush, soft with a texture closer to pancakes than our traditional crunchy breakfast waffles. They're steamy and served still warm. Spread the cream over each bite, so it barely dips into the little square nooks; breakfast for dessert, why not?
