For all the classic Austrian desserts you can find at Cafe Sabarsky, I've always had a soft spot for the ordinary-looking Frischer Frucht-Streuselkuchen ($8)—which you might prefer to order as the "fruit tart." Delivered at room temperature with a side of schlag—thick and barely sweetened fresh whipped cream—the tart has a nutty and moist marzipan base, with a fruit topping that changes frequently. On my last visit, I found a mound of sweet macerated raspberries and blueberries, a comforting, classic pairing. The tart surface is dotted in a buttery crumble, crunchy and well-browned little bites with powdered sugar. A little of all my favorite things, with schlag to boot—what's not to love.
