Sugar Rush: Cookies by Matt's Mom at Bierkraft

Matt is the beer buyer at Bierkraft; and his mom makes cookies. Good cookies. "Cookies by Matt's Mom" are stacked near the cash register, $10 for a bag filled with thin and extremely chewy treats. Most of the bags are not labeled, so you (and the guy behind the counter) will have to play a flavor guessing game. I picked a sack of cookies labeled with the word "carrot," with my fingers crossed. I hoped for carrot cake cookies—how wonderful would that be? What I did find upon eating that first cookie were not carrot cake cookies, but instead spicy, molasses rich ginger cookies with melty disks of chocolate chips. Not a stitch of carrot, but a solid cookie regardless, especially for chewy cookie fans. They make a respectable finish following a lunch of excellent sandwiches at Bierkraft.Bierkraft
