Sugar Rush: Everything Cupcake and SoCo Creamery at Tribeca Treats
I wasn't a fan of Tribeca Treats until recently; their cupcakes always struck me as overly cute with sugary frosting. So I found myself pleasantly surprised by a very respectable red velvet cupcake on a recent trip. I came days later for yet another chocolate-on-chocolate cupcake and a petite fudgy brownie. Something had changed for the better. The cakes were evenly moist, frosting smooth, just the right proportions. So I kept coming back for more, and finally settled on my single favorite cupcake here—the Everything Cupcake ($2).
It's vanilla cake swirled with a chocolate cake base. A hat of fluffy whipped vanilla frosting, crushed pretzels, and tiny brownie bits; literally an everything cupcake, the best of all worlds. While you're there, take peek into the freezer, where wait chocolate-covered banana pops and housemade ice cream sandwiches. Tribeca Treats is also one of the few places to consistently stock pints ($6) of ice cream from the beloved SoCo Creamery (the company behind Harney & Sons's customized tea ice cream). Last I checked, they had Espresso Cookie, Berry, and the ultimate crowd pleaser, a very fudgy and dark Dirty Chocolate.
