Sugar Rush: Tipu's Chai

A recent addition to the tea section of Dean & Deluca, Tipu's Chai is a fast-growing addiction of mine. The Chai comes three ways: regular, decaf, and instant. I headed for the instant (no patience in the mornings!) but quickly backed off when I realized the Instant Chai was double the price of the Regular and Decaf Chai. Stick with the Regular or Decaf, a fair $7.50 for a four-ounce bag that makes approximately 36 cups.

Organic black tea and non-irradiated spices make for vibrant, bold cup of chai, rich on the cardamom, nutmeg and fennel, and easily better than any I've found at a cafe. A suggestion to add grated ginger to milk before steeping is advice worth heeding, that small touch makes all the difference.
