There's a new cookie at Dessert Club ChikaLicious, and it's a serious one—don't mess. This cookie goes by the name "The Situation Dark," ($4) and is positively gigantic by any standard. A thick and chewy dark chocolate cookie base—with a texture not far from Levain's cookies—is equal parts dough and semi-sweet chocolate and peanut butter chips, soft smears that melt into every bite. The surface is covered in an mix of broken salty pretzel bits and crunchy toffee popcorn. Sweet and salty, but not over the top with a combustion of flavors, I'll take this over Momofuku Milk Bar's compost cookie any day. The Situation also comes in a slightly less indulgent plain cookie base version, with corn flakes, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and pretzels.

Also new at ChikaLicious is a trio of holiday cupcake flavors ($2.60 each), exciting additions to their already wonderful cupcake lineup. Eggnog, hidden at back in the above photo, is dominated by nutmeg, with cinnamon dancing in the back—the flavors bold and commanding, with a filling of custardy eggnog. A soft and spicy Gingerbread Cupcake is topped with a silky fluff of whipped cream cheese frosting and the tiniest bit of candied ginger, while the Peppermint Cupcake harbors a fudgy heart of mint chocolate cream in the chocolate cupcake base, with swirls of pink peppermint frosting to finish.
