In the space that held Matcha Box pop-up this past summer now stands the recently opened In Pursuit of Tea. The tiny store setup is exactly the same as Matcha Box, down to the serene interior and wooden benches for sitting. Here you can purchase In Pursuit of Tea's line of loose leaf teas, or stop for a drink from a rotating selection of seasonal teas.
Matcha ($3.50), however, is offered every day. Have your matcha whisked hot (to stay only), or get it iced to go ($3.50). Either way, make sure to pair a mini Matcha Loaf ($2.50), baked by Melanie Franks, a chef instructor at the French Culinary Institute. The cake comes studded with either chocolate chips or toasted pumpkin seeds (pictured above). Made with almond flour, the petite three-bite cake has a smooth melt-in-your mouth crumb, and matcha that's intensely powerful in flavor without a hint of bitterness.
