Sugar Rush: Choco-Lots by Divvies

A vegan friend recently turned me onto cookies from Divvies, a bakery based in South Salem, New York, that focuses on producing allergy-friendly sweets. Doesn't sound too appealing? Try one. The giant, tender Choco-Lot Brownie Cookies are treats that even a non-vegan like myself can get behind. Sugar-sprinkled tops, and a wheat flour base sweetened with molasses and dark brown sugar, make for soft and chewy cookies with pockets of semi-melted chocolate chips.

At the precise intersection of a cookie and a brownie, these cookies have proven to be crowd-pleaserers, and an ideal midnight companion to a mug of warm milk. (Even if they are free of dairy, egg and nuts.) Choco-Lot Divvies are sold online at www.divvies.com or by the 6-pack ($5.99) at Whole Foods locations throughout the city.
