Sugar Rush: Levain Bakery's Cinnamon-Butter Brioche

Long and lanky, the Cinnamon Butter Brioche ($3.50) from Levain Bakery has frequently come to the rescue as breakfast-on-the-go. A long narrow cut of brioche dough, one half brushed liberally with butter and a cinnamon sugar mixture, is folded over and baked until the exterior is all crunchy, lightly golden. Sugar-sprinkled and wrapped in paper, it's the ideally shaped food object when you have to eat on the run. Levain also offers the same brioche filled with a layer of semi-melted chocolate chips, but I prefer the cinnamon version by far. But if you're getting breakfast for two, may I suggest one cinnamon butter and one chocolate sourdough, a complimentary pairing!
