Red Jacket Orchards may be best known for the bottled fruit juices and ciders that they sell at the Union Square Greenmarket. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors; the tart cherry stomp, apple cider, and rhubarb-apple juice are all winners. But next time you're there, look for Red Jacket's applesauce ($3 for 16 ounces), stacked next to the register and scales. The applesauce is a wholesome fruit-only, no-sugar-added affair, leaning more toward smooth than chunky. It has become a staple of my bi-weekly visits to the Greenmarket; I need to stock up since I'll often eat an entire jar for breakfast.
