Rockaway Taco is enough to make you feel like you're on vacation. I could smell the ocean and hear the seagulls; my feet were still sandy as I bit into a crisp fish taco. This tiny taco shack in Rockaway Beach helped sustain the illusion that I was far away from home, even though it had only taken me an hour on the bus to get to that moment.

A trio of tacos—fish, chorizo, and tofu—made for a fine meal; since they were out of carnitas, I consoled myself with the black bean and plantain quesadilla, and an elote. Add to that a watermelon agua, and the day was complete.
