In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

When the line at Shake Shack is too long, there's another outdoor lunch option in Madison Square Park. During the summer months, and as long as the weather stays warm, Floyd Cardoz's Tabla has a cart out front serving frankies—an Indian style wrap sandwich rolled up in a roti. There are just three choices, but all are done well. I opted for the Chicken Tikka Frankie ($8) on my recent visit. The tandoor roasted meat was succulent and flavorful; the mint chutney and cilantro gave it the right amount of kick; and the egg-washed roti had a nice, not too chewy texture. It's somewhat messy to eat, but just as hearty and filling as a Shack burger.
