Heading out to the Hamptons this weekend? Make sure to stop by Tate's Bake Shop in Southampton for an order of bread pudding ($5.95). The puddings comes in plain or chocolate—opt for the latter, a generous (perhaps too generous!) helping of a large square, cut from the pan upon order. The bread employed is an ordinary French loaf baked in-house, but the real joy is delivered in the final product, a chocolately custard melting into every crevice, staining the bread cubes a rich, dark chocolate brown. Crusty top (my favorite part!), and a tender sweet interior—it's over-the-top rich, and a serving like this could easily serve four for dessert.
