We look forward to this weekend every year: the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. 'Cuemasters from all over the country pile into Madison Square Park to smoke and flip meats for the masses.
But as experienced attendees know, the FastPass is the way to go. It allows two eaters into the special express lines at all of the pits. The $100 passes already sold-out (don't worry, you can still show up for free and eat, just maybe bring someone fun to wait in line with) but lucky for you, we have one FastPass (for one winner and a guest) to give away.
You're gonna have to earn it first though. Barbecue lover is one thing, but we want barbecue poet. (Also, you have to actually be in New York City on June 12 or 13 to qualify.) To enter to win, compose a barbecue-themed haiku—that would be a total of 17 syllables in three phrases of 5, 7, and 5 moras respectively. The best one, as determined by the Serious Eats staff, will win.
You may submit a comment on this entry until Thursday, June 10 at 6 p.m. One entry per community member. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply. Winner will be posted in the comments section of this post as well as on the Serious Eats Contest Winners Page.
