Slide up to the juice bar at recently opened Tartinery on Mulberry Street. Here, made-to-order juices ($6.50) are as fresh as you can get without making them yourself. The best part? They're made of just fruit—nothing else, not even ice. There's a menu of house blends on offer, including Sweet Ginger, a concoction of apple, pear, and ginger, or Vita Splash, made from kiwi, apple, and pineapple.

When I asked the charming owner for his personal favorite, he didn't hesitate before answering, "Delicious Trio." So I ordered that—a frothy and bright mix of pineapples, apple, and orange, served just below room temperature. I asked for some spice, ginger perhaps, and he cheerfully threw that in as well. If none of the house blends call your name, design your own from an extensive list of ingredients including watermelon, mango, mint, grapefruit, blueberry, and so much more. Yes, it's a lot for "just" fruit juice. But until I've got the time and appliances to do make my own, I'm quite happy here.
